A Good Day For Shore BirdsThursday I usually get my hair done and of course I go right past my favorite ponds, the marshes south and east of here

Beautiful birds today, mostly Yellow Legs,
 must be Lesser Yellow Legs?
Not sure! A pair of Phalaropes
 and a beautiful Killdeer.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the train
on the west side of the highway pond

An early morning breath of spring,
a chance to hear some birds that sing,
the soft green new growth on the trees,
can life feel better than this?

Yellow Legs Shore birds, a pair of Phalaropes
skittering about swirling the water,
 bugs coming to the surface,
a little lunch for the ever hungry birds.

Red Winged Blackbirds, Yellow Headed Blackbirds, some in the grass beside my car; others in the little willows on the edge of the water, one lone Killdeer, perhaps has a mate on a nest nearby.
